Okiot was on his way to court when his vehicle was crashed by the truck, which lost control along the Entebbe-Kampala Expressway.
Taking to social media, his family, friends, and students have mourned him in moving posts, expressing shock at his untimely demise.

Okiot had a social life outside work, and he would grab a drink. In the snap below, the man was in a classy hotel and on his arm was a glass filled with a drink. He calmly stared at the camera in the photo that has since gone viral.
A photo of the lecturer with his friends after a football match was shared online. In the photo, they are rocking orange jerseys. He was all smiles as his pal seemed to be relaying an exciting story.
Footage from traffic surveillance cameras along the Entebbe-Kampala expressway showed the disturbing moment a cement mixer truck fell on a car in traffic. Okiot did not know that it was his last day on earth.
In his photos, the lecturer was always smiles. He loved his life and will forever be remembered for his impact on society.
In other news, tears flowed freely when the Nakuru family, which lost seven members after an accident at Salama on the Mombasa-Nairobi Highway showed up at the Umash Funeral Home to pick up their bodies.
Among those who tragically perished were Francis Mwangi (61), Irene Wangombe (37), Esther Nyambura (12), Lemmy Macharia (12), Esther Macharia (7), and Joyce Wanjiru (2).
Before the saddest day that changed their lives, the family had gone to Mombasa to enjoy the Easter Holidays together.
