Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki has issued a statement asserting that the problems causing delay in passport issuance have been addressed.

In a press statement released on April 18, Kindiki said that as from May 1, all Kenyan passport applicants will have their passports in 21 days after the application date.

" This period will reduce to 7 days effective August 1, 2024 and to three days effective November 1, 2024," he stated.

He further highlighted that challenges like under funding, corruption, poor printing equipment and shortcomings in delivery of ready passports caused increased backlog of passports.
