Questions have flown over the role of blogger Pauline Njoroge in President William Ruto's entourage in his state visit to the United States.

Ruto started his trip on Monday, May 20, in Atlanta, where he toured The Jimmy Carter Library and Museum and The Martin Luther King, Jr. Centre for Nonviolent Social Change.

The trip -themed on the US-Kenya partnership for prosperity- is historic in the sense that Ruto is the first African head of state to be hosted by a US president on a state visit after many years.

Pauline Njoroge's mixed signals

Pauline had flown prior to Ruto's visit, saying she was in the US on a personal sojourn to study history.

But her first X post after landing in the US ahead of Ruto's arrival spoke contrary to what she had stated she was in the US for.

The known critic of Ruto's regime seemed to be somehow too preoccupied with the president's visit.

She passionately highlighted the significance of the visit for relations between the US and Nairobi.

She went on to express optimism about Ruto's five-day tour leveraging the US's readiness to partner with Kenya to the latter's political and socio-economic advantages.

"It is my hope that as Ruto visits the United States and engages with strategic institutions and key players in different sectors/industries, he will be guided by an overarching mission of leveraging on our country’s strategic offerings to extract concessions and secure partnerships beneficial to Kenyans in the economic, social, cultural, security and political facets," partly read her tweet.

Later, Pauline sent another tweet delving into the key areas the president will deliberate on with his host, President Joe Biden; this she did with a visibly utmost precision like that of a state house confidante.

In another instance, Pauline shared a video clip with slides highlighting what could come out of the trip.

Now, the quarters confused by her moves argued she might have jumped ship.

They said it is not commonplace for an opposition activist to be deeply invested in the goings-on of a regime she passionately finds fault in.

She might have acceded to the regime's advances and fat paycheck in return for her pro-government campaign, they said.

See some reactions below;

Pauline, however, distanced herself from the assertions.

She argued that what she was after had a lot to do with patriotism, and not joining the government.

The blogger has been striving to beat the allegations of ditching Azimio La Umoja to spin for the government.

In less than a week, she was out to renounce the claims that she had been poached by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

She had been rumoured to be part of the dream team set to be dispatched to Gachagua's office in the latter's bid to package himself in readiness for future political manoeuvres.

What did Pauline Njoroge say?

Njoroge, according to the purveyors of the claim, would bring on board her vibrant political and governance know-how, which would be utilised in positively changing the political outlook of the deputy president.

But clarifying things, Pauline wondered about the position she had been posted to without her knowledge.

In her response to one of the purveyors of the information and subsequent postings, the blogger seemed to wonder who in government would entrust her with a position, yet she is on record criticising the same regime.
