Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Chief of Defence Forces, General Francis Omondi Ogolla, who tragically died in a helicopter crash.
President William Ruto announced General Ogolla’s demise in a press briefing, where he eulogised the late general as a valiant soldier.
Gachagua reflected on his last encounter with General Ogolla just a day before the fatal incident.

The duo met at the Bomas of Kenya during the Wage Bill Conference, where the DP said they engaged in a meaningful and warm conversation.
"It was only yesterday afternoon that General Ogolla and I had a really hearty conversation at the Bomas of Kenya during the Wage Bill Conference," Gachagua said.
Gachagua fondly remembered General Ogolla, describing him as a vibrant, pleasant, and joyous man with a distinct and commendable character.
He lauded the late general as a true patriot who served the nation with determination.
"General Ogolla was a very vibrant, pleasant and joyous person, with a distinct and admirable demeanour."
"He served our nation with sheer determination and unparalleled distinction," the DP added.
Gachagua mourned the loss of the great man and extended his condolences to Ogolla's family, as well as to the families of others who lost their lives in the crash.
He wrote:
"We have lost a great patriot who gave his best in protecting our country."
"May God grant the family of General Ogolla, the other families who lost their loved ones in this tragic accident, the @kdfinfo fraternity and the nation the strength to bear this loss. Rest Well General."
