"I am truly happy to be back home after a successful visit to the USA. God's favour was present, real, and evident. Our hosts were generous and considerate. We got what we planned for and more. I thank all Kenyans for the privilege to lead and for prayers, goodwill, and support. Baraka," Ruto said.

However, some Kenyans raised questions after Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua failed to show up at JKIA to receive his boss.

Interior Cabinet Secretary Kithure Kindiki led senior government officials, to receive the president at JKIA.

At JKIA, others included Head of Public Service Felix Kosgei, PS Raymond Omollo, and Inspector General of Police Japhet Koome.

Kenyans wondered why the second-in-command was not at JKIA, some saying the ongoing talks of possible fallout in the Kenya Kwanza Alliance could have been behind the latest developments.

Can Gachagua outsmart William Ruto?

Meanwhile, lawyer Makau Mutua has warned Gachagua against infighting with the president.

In a statement on Tuesday, May 21, Makau said Gachagua might be tempted to clash with Ruto but would ultimately lose the battle.

Makau claimed the second-in-command was not a political genius, making fighting with his boss difficult.
