"She had gone to check on her vegetables when the unfortunate happened," a heartbroken Achieng said.

The grieving daughter noted that they had engaged different people to help with the search operations, but none has yielded fruit.

She added that they have contacted all the rescue teams in Kenya, tried local divers and coast guards, and hired boats in vain.

Family pleads for help to retrieve body

With 16 days gone since she drowned and no signs of the body, the family is at their tail end of wits.

"We have prayed near the scene of the incident in vain. I stay awake all night, trying to make sense of everything," Achieng wrote on Facebook.

Her family has used all their resources and has depended on support and prayers from friends.

Achieng recalled being with her mother in April, a few weeks before the incident, and even posted a picture of her while making ugali.

"I have a weight on my head that I wish social media, the county government and anyone who knows or can conceive this pain would help us," she pleaded.
