Senior Police Officer Attacked, Robbed Of Cash And High-Value Items In Night Raid

Kampala, Uganda - In recent times, Ugandan law enforcement has noted a surge in gang-related assaults targeting both residences and roads.

The most recent incident involves Superintendent Frederick Baguma, who fell victim to an armed gang attack at his home in Busabala Parish during the night.

What did Superintendent Frederick Baguma lose?

According to Monitor, police report the assailants broke into the officer's residence around 3am on Tuesday, May 28, while he was asleep.

They made away with a flat-screen TV and significant amounts of cash and subjected him to physical harm before fleeing the scene.

"The assailants gained access to the officer's home when he was asleep. They stole a flat-screen television and a bag containing an unspecified amount of money before injuring the victim," said the assistant superintendent of police, Luke Owoyesigyire.

Currently, four suspects allegedly involved in the attack have been apprehended by authorities, with efforts underway to recover the stolen property.

"With the help of the canine unit, our detectives were able to track down the suspects. They haven't yet revealed where they kept the stolen items. That is now our focus," he added.

Superintendent Baguma is presently undergoing treatment in the hospital for the injuries sustained during the ordeal.

Robbers attack 3 police officers in Mlolongo

Back home, three police officers were attacked by robbers who were caught stealing from a woman near Cooperative Bank in Mlolongo, Machakos county.

The armed gang engaged the police in a bitter confrontation when the law enforcement officers tried to rescue the devastated mother.

Fortunately, they were overpowered leading to their subsequent arrest. The robbers were taken into custody to await arraignment.
