Visible on the deceased's neck were deep cuts, suggesting she was attacked with a sharp object.
Moments after the murder became public on Thursday, police traced a vehicle to the Nairobi city centre.
It was a Mitsubishi Outlander SUV believed to have been used by the prime suspect in fleeing the murder scene.
Athi River sub-county chief of investigation Wesley Lang'at revealed that the vehicle -with registration details pointing to Bamboo- was found at a parking lot in the city, Citizen TV reported.

The police established that he left the car in the custody of a security guard, whom he had paid KSh 430 as parking fees.
Found inside the vehicle were the ignition keys.
Bamboo is the director of Light Uriri Academy in Migori.
Though unconfirmed, sources indicated the deceased was killed in a love-gone-sour plot supposedly perpetrated by her husband.
The circumstances of the woman's death came as a great shock to those who knew her and her husband, given that they constantly and publicly displayed their affection, courting admiration from their audiences.
Until her tragic death, Sheila was a renowned figure among the Ohangla genre circles and the proprietor of JB Lounge, an entertainment joint in Nairobi's Umoja area.
