Nairobi: A survivor of the road carnage that claimed eight lives in Karen has given her account of things.
Identified as Faith, the woman was among the passengers of the ill-fated public service vehicle that plunged into the Mbagathi River on the mid-morning of Saturday, May 18.
Police said the driver of the vehicle plying the Ongata Rongai—Nairobi route lost control before it rolled into the river near Cooperative University in Karen.

Faith, on her part, shared that the vehicle was overloaded at the time of the accident.
Still recovering from the shock of surviving a bloodbath, the teary woman recalled the bus swerving after the driver failed to control it.
"We boarded the PSV but it was loaded with a lot of people up to the door. I was with the conductor when the bus negotiated a bump past the river then things happened. The driver tried reversing but failed at it," she recalled.
She emotionally recounted getting immersed in the water when but recollected herself in that moment.
Faith thanked her God for getting to survive the accident.

The Kenya Red Cross Society reported that its rescuers showed up at the scene alongside other well-wishers and responders from the Nairobi county government emergency department.
The humanitarian organisation revealed that 13 survivors were picked up and rushed to nearby health facilities for medical attention as cranes camped to hoist the vehicle out of the gorge.
Going by the wreckage, the vehicle was badly damaged with the roof having detached from the larger body.
