Trans Nzoia - Grief has engulfed a family in Kiminini following the sudden death of their son.

Mzee Masaja, Eric's father, revealed that he was riding on an errand when he was informed that his son had been mauled by the dogs.
When he arrived at the scene, Masaja said his son seemed to be in pain and only muttered the name dogs.
"I received a call from my wife informing me that our son had been badly bitten by dogs. I took my motorbike and rushed to scene. On arriving at the scene, I found him lying on his stomach. I tried to ask him what had happened. He just said, ‘dogs’, and was sounding very weak," he said.
The family said they rushed him to a local medical facility, where he was declared dead on arrival. He reportedly sustained injuries to the neck, head, and other parts of the body.
A section of the residents revealed that they had cries for help in the area as the dogs barked at night but did not suspect someone was under attack.
Despite the police giving a different account of events, Eric's family has maintained that he was returning home from work when the carnivores attacked.
Nerman Okutoi, the area welfare chairman, said he visited the scene, painting a grim image of Eric's experience at the hands of the dogs.
He explained that Eric struggled to free himself from the dogs, adding that the place was similar to a war ground.
"The scene looked like a war ground. I could see pieces of torn clothes and dog prints. You could tell that the boy had really struggled to free himself from the dogs," said Okutoi.
Locals stated that this was not the first time the dogs had attacked someone, calling on the police to take action to prevent future incidents.
Rabies transmission through animal bites is uncertain until confirmed by medical experts through testing.
According to mayoclinic, once the infection is established, it’s usually fatal, and treatment involves a fast-acting shot, rabies immune globulin and a series of vaccinations.
The need for treatment can sometimes be determined by observing the animal that bit you or testing it for rabies.
If the animal can’t be found, it may be safest to assume it had rabies and proceed with treatment.
In a separate incident, rottweiler dogs attacked and killed a mother and son.
The 28-year-old woman and her son, aged one, were fatally attacked by the two canines of the Rottweiler breed, which broke from their owner's home.
Police in Ugenya, Siaya county, pursued the dogs and killed them; the bodies of the deceased were booked in the Ukwala Sub-County Hospital mortuary.
