Nairobi - President William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, have not been seen in public together recently.

Their close allies hinted at a possible fallout between the Kenya Kwanza Alliance leaders.

Ruto, Gachagua meet at Safari Park Hotel

Speaking in Uasin Gishu county recently, Gachagua slammed Ruto's close associates, whom he said were undermining his authority in the Mt. Kenya region.

“Some politicians from Rift Valley have partnered with others in the Mt Kenya region and have decided to plan 2027 politics. Why do you want to succeed the president while he is still alive?” Gachagua posed.

However, the 21st National Prayer Breakfast at the Safari Park Hotel has united the two leaders.

Ruto is leading the nation in marking the 21st National Prayer Breakfast, where former Ethiopian PM Tamrat Layne will give a keynote address under the theme of 'Hope.'

The president and his deputy, together with their spouses, arrived at the Safari Park Hotel, a few minutes before 8am.

Is Gachagua looking for another political party?

Meanwhile, Gachagua's office has strongly denounced reports that he was eyeing a new political outfit outside the ruling UDA party.

On Wednesday, May 29, a local daily carried a story about Gachagua's resolve to forge his political path outside UDA, where divisions have continued to rock.

Gachagua had been in talks with The New Democrats (TND) for a political partnership with his supposed likelihood of quitting UDA due to frustrations.

Addressing the claims of his seeking to coalesce outside UDA, Gachagua's office said they were far-fetched.

Njeri Rugene, the ODP's head of communication, flagged the reports as unfounded, calling out the media house for spinning malice -as news publication- to the detriment of the deputy president and his office.
