He retired for good in 2003. Arie's son Arie Luyendyk, Jr. has made a name for himself as a reality TV contestant from the show The Bachelor. Arie Jr appeared on the 8th season of the show as a contestant. He finished second. He then appeared on the 17th season as the actual bachelor.
