Athi River Woman In Tears As Son Dies In Local Daycare 2 Weeks To Birthday: "Nina Maswali Mengi"

• Caroline Ndeta shared how her husband, Patrick Kiia, took their baby to daycare at the Sky Plaza building in Athi River, but sadly, that was the last day they both saw him alive
• According to the mother, Kiia took his son to daycare so that he could run some errands before reporting to work in the evening, but later on, he saw the owner of the daycare with the baby
• The infant was wrapped in a blanket, and when they arrived at the hospital, he was pronounced dead; the postmortem revealed that food had gone through the windpipe, straight to the lungs

Caroline Ndeta is a woman in pain as her infant son, who was supposed to be celebrating his birthday within two weeks time, is now lying in the morgue.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, Caroline said she woke very early in the morning on the fateful day and prepared food for her baby, Adrian Kioko.

Which daycare did Patrick Kiia take baby Kioko to?

The young mother said she requested her husband to stay with their baby until he left for work, but since he had some errands to run, he took the baby to a daycare inside a plot at the Sky Plaza building in Athi River.

"When my husband returned to the house, he wanted to cook supper so that he could go to work at 7 pm. When he went to buy Sukuma Wiki, he saw the owner of the daycare with a baby wrapped in a blanket, accompanied by another woman," said Caroline.

"They didn't even want him to touch the baby and when he eventually touched baby Adrian, he was already cold and limp. That did not dissuade the father from hoping onto a motorbike and rushing the baby to the Mutunguni hospital. When they arrived there they learnt that the baby died a while ago and had been kept somewhere for some time," she added.

Where did Caroline report the death?

On Monday, September 10, they went to Shallom Hospital, where the little one was preserved, and they conducted a postmortem.

"The postmortem revealed that food went to the windpipe and straight to the lungs. The food in the windpipe was even different from what I prepared," she added.

The matter was reported to the Athi River Police Station, but Caroline claimed that since then, the lady has been roaming around free. It is alleged a similar incident occurred in January 2024, and she is still running the daycare.

Caroline also claimed that the police had not communicated with her about the issue. The family is now preparing for the child's burial.

The two lost their lives on the night of August 31, 2024, in a crash that claimed 12 lives, all of whom had attended a parental blessing event in Meru.
