The double Olympic champion made her Diamond League debut in Doha and ran the women's 5000m, which she comfortably won in 14:26.98.

In her next Diamond League race, she competed in the 10,000m in Eugene and shattered the world record. The Kenyan clocked 28:54.14 to break Letesenbet Gidey's mark of 29:01.03.

Her next big races were the 5000m and 10,000m at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which she won.

Chebet's earnings in 2024

Olympic gold medallists in athletics receive $50,000, meaning Chebet will take home $100,000 (Ksh13 million) for her two gold medals.

She also earned $10,000 for winning the two Diamond League races. If an athlete smashes a world record in the Diamond League, they reportedly get a bonus of $50,000. Her Diamond League earnings for 2024 are $70,000 (Ksh9 million).

Her cross-country title in Belgrade also came with $30,000 (Ksh4 million) in prize money. The Kenyan government also rewarded gold medallists with Ksh3 million each.

Therefore, Chebet has pocketed approximately 32 million shillings in 2024 so far. If she runs and wins in the Diamond League final in Brussels in September, a Diamond trophy and $40,000 await her.
