Veteran DJ Kalonje has warned comedian Oga Obinna sternly, threatening legal action over comments Obinna made during a recent show.
Obinna claimed that during an event where DJ Kalonje was the entertainer, he had to cover for Kalonje, who allegedly did not know how to mix live.
DJ Kalonje's legal team addressed the issue in an official letter dated August 21, 2024, citing a video posted on Obinna’s YouTube channel on August 19, 2024.

The letter states that Obinna’s remarks were defamatory and threatened DJ Kalonje’s business and brand.
"We have been duly retained by DJ Kalonje and Mixmasters Entertainment Limited (hereinafter referred to as ‘our client’), which has instructed us to address you as follows: On 19th August 2024, you posted a video on your YouTube channel, Obinna TV Extra, where you stated that the director of our client, DJ Kalonje, cannot perform live mixes, despite the same not being true," the letter reads.
The legal team further demanded that Obinna issue an unconditional apology live on air.
"Our client has therefore instructed us to demand, which we hereby do, that you immediately and unconditionally apologise to our client’s director live on air for knowingly making the false utterances," the letter continues.
DJ Kalonje’s legal team has given Obinna a seven-day ultimatum to comply with the demand.
Should Obinna fail to admit liability and apologize, legal proceedings will be instituted against him, with the comedian bearing all associated costs and risks.
DJ Kalonje also took to Instagram to express his frustration, questioning why his name and brand were dragged into the situation for the sake of YouTube clicks and views.
"It is truly baffling to me how I ended up being dragged into someone else’s interview, let alone why anyone would attempt to tarnish my name and brand for the sake of a few fleeting views and likes," DJ Kalonje wrote.
"My brand is something I take with the utmost seriousness, and I refuse to entertain any form of defamation, whether it’s intended as a joke or not."
He emphasised the seriousness of the situation, calling Obinna’s actions unprofessional and immature.
A week ago, Obinna was called out by Kenyans who considered his handling of some of his guests unprofessional.
This was after a video of him seemingly talking down on Stivo Simple Boy went viral, and Kenyans compared Obinna's previous interviews.
Some netizens asked him to respect people who come to his show, while others accused him of being arrogant.
