The young Kenyan was coming off the 2024 Paris Olympics, where he beat Marco Arop to win gold.

The 20-year-old had to fend off Arop in Lausanne last night to win and has most likely booked his spot in the Diamond League final set for next month in Brussels.

Apart from winning gold medals and Diamond League meetings, Wanyonyi has pocketed millions of shillings.

This year, Wanyonyi has won a gold medal at the Olympics, smashed the the world road mile record in Germany, and won two Diamond Leave events.

Emmanuel Wanyonyi 2024 earnings

He earned $50,000 (Ksh6.45 million) for the gold medal from World Athletics and Ksh3 million from the Kenyan government.

He definitely pocketed millions from his world record in Herzogenaurach, Germany, in April, but information on the prize money is not available in the public domain.

In the Diamond League, he has two wins and a second-place finish. The wins came in Lausanne and Rabat, while his only defeat was in Paris just before the Olympics.
