Nyeri- An interdenominational prayer service is being held at Hillside Endarasha Academy in memory of the 21 pupils who died in the fire on Thursday, September 5.
In a video shared by Citizen Digital, a somber mood enveloped the area as people prayed for the departed souls and those still recovering in various hospitals.
Other parents were seen weeping during the prayers to express their grief over the loss of the young lives.
"The hardship that we are facing, God give us strength. We remember those who have lost their loved ones, and we are asking you to console them. We release ourselves in your hands, lord," the prayer leader said.

Parents and local residents attended the event. The newly appointed Health Cabinet Secretary Deborah Barasa Mulongo and Nyeri governor Mutahi Kahiga were also present.
This follows a report given by government spokesperson Isaac Mwaura saying 48 learners from Hillside Endarasha Academy cannot be accounted for as of Saturday evening, September 7.
The ill-fated dormitory had housed 156 boys.
Mwaura pleaded with parents and others who took the boys from the scene to check with the government and humanitarian personnel who pitched tents outside the school.
The government spokesperson further revealed that the death toll had hit 21 after two more learners succumbed to burn injuries while on treatment in Nairobi's Kenyatta National Hospital and Mary Immaculate Hospital of Nyeri.
