Eric Omondi Casts Doubts On Raila Odinga's Leadership Skills: "Kenya Has No Leader"

Comedian-turned-activist Eric Omondi has sparked controversy by claiming that Kenya currently has no true leaders.

In a candid interview on Radio Maisha, Omondi categorised public figures into three distinct groups: politicians, leaders, and freedom fighters.

During the interview, Omondi elaborated on what he believes defines a true leader, citing former United States President Barack Obama and Kenya’s late president Mwai Kibaki as examples.

He praised both men for their leadership qualities and compared them to the current situation in Kenya.

Does Kenya have true leaders?

However, Omondi argued that Kenya lacks true leadership today.

He specifically doubted Raila Odinga's abilities, describing him not as a leader, but as a freedom fighter.

Omondi was asked to describe Mumias East MP Peter Salasya and he quickly branded him a comedian.

Additionally, he labelled President William Ruto as merely a politician rather than a leader.

"Barack Obama is a leader. Kibaki was a leader. It is a very thin line between a politician and a leader. Currently, there is no leader in Kenya. Raila Amollo Odinga is a freedom fighter. If you had invited Peter Salasya here you had have described as a comedian. William Ruto is a politician," Omondi stated.

Why is Eric Omondi unhappy with Ruto?

Previously, the comedian took the war to Ruto's doorstep, accusing him of failing Kenyans.

He accused Ruto of failing to live up to his promises in the run-up to the August 9, 2022, polls.

According to Omondi, the system, from the president to the MCA, is entirely rotten because there is a generation that Kenyans should do away with.

Omondi said he was speaking with a lot of pain in his heart owing to what he had witnessed while crisscrossing the country.
