Eyewitnesses of the tragic accident disclosed chilling details of how the accident occurred on that ill-fated day.
The people at the scene, visibly shaken by the aftermath, described the accident as particularly gruesome.
A woman named Joyce Amolo reported seeing the 14-seater matatu coming from the Muhoroni direction.
She added that she heard the lorry approaching with great speed and force. Moments later, she claimed she saw the lorry slam into the matatu, crushing it.
"I heard the lorry approach vigorously. Then I heard the matatu driver complain as to why the lorry driver was attempting to take their lives," Amolo said.
Amolo also reported hearing one of the female survivors crying and saying she was trying to take her child to school.
Another witness, Meshach, said he was deeply saddened by the accident. He said he observed that the lorry transporting flour was on the wrong side of the road.
"The lorry was heading downwards on the road and it was driving on the lane where vehicles are moving upwards," he said.
They further urged the government to install speed bumps along the Muhoroni-Londiani highway to help prevent future accidents.
