Homa Bay - A wave of grief has swept over Owich Sub-location in Suba following the sudden death of Assistant Chief Paul Ogango.

Ogango reportedly passed away after he collapsed during a security meeting in the area on Thursday, August 22 evening.

The deceased had gathered with 34 other administrators at Magunga Town to discuss local security matters.

Confirming the incident, Suba Deputy County Commissioner Sebastian Okiring revealed the late Assistant Chief had been battling chronic illnesses, including hypertension and diabetes.

Despite his health challenges, Ogango was dedicated to his role and had just delivered a speech when he developed complications.

According to Suba Deputy County Commissioner Sebastian Okiring, the administrator had an underlying chronic illness.

"His illness is something that his colleagues know about. About 34 administrators were at the meeting," he said as reported by Nation.

What killed Homa Bay administrator

He apparently stepped up to talk, but his colleagues observed he was suffering shortly after taking his seat. He was then brought to the hospital and pronounced dead.

Okiri said a medical report later revealed that Ogango had suffered a severe spike in blood pressure, leading to the rupture of a blood vessel in his head.

The combination of his underlying conditions ultimately contributed to his untimely death.

Siaya man testifying in land succession dies in court

Earlier, shock and commotion interrupted a court session in Bondo when a witness collapsed and later died while testifying in a land case.

The man, identified only as Charles Obonyo, was at Bondo Magistrate's Court to testify in a land succession case.

While giving his testimony, Obonyo collapsed and was swiftly taken to a nearby hospital by family members who were with him in court. He was pronounced dead during treatment at the hospital.

Siaya County Police Commander Cleti Kimaiyo indicated that Dickson Ochiel, the administrator of the Bondo law courts, was responsible for reporting the incident to the Bondo police station.

Kimaiyo confirmed that the family had allegedly taken Obonyo's body back home without filing a police report regarding his death.
