Kakamega - A cloud of darkness has engulfed the Shilalyo village of Shinyalu after a 25-year-old man allegedly hacked his father to death.
The tragic incident occurred after a confrontation between the deceased, identified as 49-year-old Kizito Hamas, and his son Sammy.
According to the family, the dispute arose over a dead pig, escalating into violence when Kizito attempted to intervene.

Debla Khasiala, the mother of the deceased, recounted the horrific scene, revealing that Sammy, during the argument, turned on his father with a panga.
Despite Kizito's attempt to flee, Khasiala said he was struck down by his son in a brutal attack that has shocked the residents.
"I saw Kizito fall while running quickly, and his son Sammy was striking him with a machete. He completely cut his neck, head, and hand," she narrated, fighting back tears.
Maina Isalambo, Kizito’s brother, expressed shock over the incident, attributing Sammy’s actions to the abuse of substances, specifically bhang.
Isalambo shared that by the time they responded to the commotion, it was already too late, as Sammy had fled after killing his father.
"You know, young people these days smoke bhang or something, then he came here causing trouble and ended up attacking his own father. By the time we arrived, he had already killed his father. We have nothing more to say; we don’t even know where he is now," he added.
Police are currently conducting a manhunt for the suspect, who remains at large.
Meanwhile, the body of the deceased has been taken to Kakamega Referral Hospital, awaiting further investigations into the incident.
In a separate incident, Magdalene Wangechi, aged 68, was hacked to death by her son, Patrick Irungu, aged 36, in Gaturo village, Murang'a county.
Family members said Wangechi had prepared bananas, but her son demanded to be served with a plate of ugali.
Murang'a South Deputy County Commissioner Gitona Murungi said the neighbours lynched the suspect.
