Kenya Power has announced that the deadline for updating prepaid (token) meters is fast approaching, set for August 31, 2024.
In an official customer alert seen by TUKO.co.ke, the KPLC urged all its prepaid customers to ensure their meters are updated in order to avoid disruptions to their services.
Kenya Power noted that all meters have been scheduled for update and purchase tokens to receive the update tokens.

The company said,
"All the targeted meters have now been scheduled for update. Once you receive an SMS from Kenya Power prompting you to update your prepaid (token) meter, please follow the steps below:"
According to a press release seen by TUKO.ke, Kenya Power aims to update the software of 7.4 million prepaid meters by the end of the update exercise.
Kenya Power has been conducting the exercise based on a phased approach to ensure a smooth update process.
Prepaid meters are scheduled for updates in batches, and customers receive SMS notifications when their metre is due for an update.
Customers can also access their update codes through Kenya Power’s self-service platform by dialling *977#. This platform serves as a backup in case the SMS notification is lost.
