Kiambu - A family in Kimbo is breathing a sigh of relief after their 14-year-old daughter, who went missing on May 13, returned home safe and sound.

Daisy Wanjiku, a student at Kahuhia Girls High School, disappeared just a day before the start of the second term.

On Monday, September 9, her mother, Julia Wanjiru Githaiga, shared the good news with TUKO.co.ke.

“I was working in my shop in Kimbo when I received a call from Daisy. She asked how I was doing and if I was still upset. I told her I was fine and welcomed her home. I was amazed to see how grown-up and beautiful she looked. She is in great health. We are very happy,” joyful Githaiga recounted.

Why did Daisy Wanjiku return home?

Githaiga explained that Wanjiku had seen news reports about her disappearance and decided to return home to ease her family's distress.

The Form One student alleged to have been employed as a househelp in Kileleshwa, though this claim is yet to be confirmed.

Remarkably, Wanjiku has agreed to return to school and continue her studies without any further issues.

Her homecoming was celebrated by her friends, who happened to visit her family at the time.

Julia Githaiga thanks Kenyans for support

The mother praises God for Daisy’s safe return, as she had searched for her in mortuaries and hospitals, and followed every lead she received in dreams, with the assistance of officers.

“It’s been incredibly tough for us. We searched everywhere for her—mortuaries, hospitals, and followed every lead. Unfortunately, the lawyers who could have helped me demanded KSh 100,000, which I couldn’t afford. So, I had to rely on prayers and the kindness of others to find her,” she shared.

Githaiga expressed her gratitude to God and deeply appreciated all the support and assistance she received during the challenging period.
