"She stayed for a more extended period than expected. Her contract was already over, and she was expected to return home this early month. It was not long before I got the news of my daughter's death.
I was told some money had been contributed for the morgue, but there is no money to pay for the flight to bring back her body. I have," Sophia Bosibori painfully told Citizen TV Kenya as she and her neighbours continued to grapple with the sad news.

Cost of repatriation from Saudi Arabia

Kwamboka's brother emphasised the same financial constraint that has crippled the family's effort to transport Kwamboka's body.

"The obstacle we are remaining with is the finances for the cargo flight to bring back her body. We need roughly KSh 200,000 but cannot raise the money ourselves. We are calling upon well-wishers and kind-hearted Kenyans to come to our aid," Stephen Gichana said.

The family from Kisii noted that Kwamboka went to Saudi Arabia in 2020, and her death has slowed down several family projects that she was to oversee.

Similarly, the family of Virginia Auma Ayoko, a Kenyan woman who died in Saudi Arabia on July 6, pleaded for assistance in repatriating her remains.

Auma worked in Saudi Arabia for two years, providing for her family back home.

Her sister, Christine Akinyi, revealed that the process of confirming her death was fraught with difficulty and misinformation.

According to Akinyi, the agency responsible for Auma's employment initially denied reports of her death.
