A group of young patients from Kenyatta National Hospital's (KNH) Paediatric Oncology Unit had a day to remember after going on an exciting game drive at Nairobi National Park.

The special outing was made possible by the generosity of Mr. Steve Isaacs, a valued partner of the hospital.

The children, drawn from Wards 1E and 3D, were given the rare opportunity to experience Kenya's iconic wildlife up close.

The hospital posted photos on Facebook of the young patients enjoying the welcome distraction from their ongoing treatment.

The game drive allowed the children to see lions, giraffes, zebras, and other animals in their natural habitat.

Such outings bring them joy and a much-needed break from the hospital environment.

The brave young fighters' smiles proved that the experience brought them some joy and strength as they continued their treatment.

This game drive is not just about seeing animals; it’s about giving these children a sense of normalcy and hope.

The game drive is part of an initiative by KNH and its partners to offer emotional and psychological support to cancer patients undergoing treatment.

As the drive ended, the children shared stories of the animals they saw, creating lasting memories of a day filled with adventure and happiness.

Social media reactions

Kenyans on social media showered praises on the initiative, adding that it reduces the weight of the emotional load the patients carry.

Pascal Mutekhele:

"This is incredible! I miss spending time with these cute children in the year 2013 at 1E."

D Kipps Bett:

"This is amazing. Giving these children a smile despite the tough health conditions they're facing."

Joyce Shelula Kayombya:

"Such heartwarming news. God bless KNH and Mr. Isaacs. Quick recovery to our children."
