A man recently took to social media to share the touching story of how he met his wife during their university days.

In a Facebook post on Present Fatherhood, the smitten man captured the essence of love that blossomed in the most unexpected of places.

The story begins with a chance meeting through a mutual friend—her roommate—that would change his life forever.

He indicated that the first time he visited her in Hostel L, Room 314, he was immediately struck by the unique atmosphere she had created.

Though the room was small, she had transformed it into a cosy sanctuary, beautifully decorated with African prints and peacock feathers.

"This was indeed a lady who knew herself and what she wanted," he started.

What truly set her apart, though, was the sight of her making mandazis in her room—a rare and surprising activity in a public university setting.

She welcomed him with a warm smile, offering him her delicious mandazis and a cup of rosemary tea.

It was at that moment that he realized she was different from anyone he had ever met.

Her thoughtfulness and the inviting ambience of her room left a lasting impression on him.

As their conversation unfolded that evening, he became even more captivated by her.

She spoke passionately and clearly about her dreams and aspirations, revealing herself as a visionary woman.

The woman was different from the girls he had met before, who were often focused on material things like gifts, expensive dates, and designer clothes.

"She was more interested in who I was as a person. She knew she could do all these material stuff for herself and more," he continued.

That she knew her worth and was not defined by what a man could provide for her showed him qualities about her that were beyond financial.

Even as a second-year student, she was already running several businesses.

She had a clothes business, where she would buy items from Gikomba Market, iron them, and sell them at a higher price.

Furthermore, she had also rented a place in a nearby village, where she built a chicken house and started rearing free-range chickens.

Her entrepreneurial spirit was impressive as she even spoke of her future plans to open a restaurant.

When she shared how she already envisioned the restaurant complete with the décor, he knew he wanted to spend the rest of his life with her.

She embodied commitment, vision, grit, and exceptional organizational skills, a belief confirmed during their first official date.

The man says the woman didn’t hesitate to ask him deep, probing questions about his dreams, future, upbringing, and past traumas.

It felt like an interview, but one that he enjoyed every minute of. From that point on, their relationship was a journey of mutual growth, learning, and unlearning together.
