Kajiado - The family of Teresia Ndunge is grappling with grief following her tragic death in the Nithi Bridge accident that claimed 12 lives, including members of the Vision Group.

The sorrow is palpable at her home in Rongai, where her son, Dennis Makau, is struggling to come to terms with the loss of his mother.

Makau recounted his last interactions with his mother, revealing an unsettling premonition that led him to repeatedly check on her.

He explained that he could not watch a football match during that time, and for the first time, Teresia took long to reply to his messages.

"Her last message was, 'We are on our way. We are coming.' I first sent her a message, and she replied, saying they were on their way. But as I was watching the game, I felt uneasy and texted her again. Normally, my messages to her are answered within five minutes, but this time, there was no reply. I called her about twenty times, but she didn’t pick up," Dennis shared, his voice choked with emotion.

His mother’s silence only deepened his worry until his mother's friend answered one of his calls and informed him of the accident and the search efforts for his mother.

The devastating confirmation of her death came on Sunday, September 1, leaving him to take care of his two siblings.

What was Vision Group's next visit?

Tersia's brother, Cosmas Makau, also shared the poignant plans his sister had made before her passing.

Cosmas said the group was to visit his home after returning from Meru, and she had asked him to be present during the occasion.

"She had told me that on the 16th, after coming back from Meru, the group would visit her place. She had prepared everything and invited me, telling me to be there at that time. So, Mom was looking forward to it," he recounted.

Rongai family mourns woman killed

In another story, Lucy Kiende, a neighbour of the late Njeri at Kware Market in Rongai, bitterly mourned her after learning she was among those who died in the Nithi Bridge accident.

According to Lucy, Njeri was upbeat as they prepared to leave their home for a parental blessing group event at Nkubu in Meru.

Njeri left behind a husband and young kids, and Lucy called on the government to help lay her to rest and also educate her young children.
