Mary Moraa eased to another win, cruising in style to win the women’s 800m race at the Zurich Diamond League on Thursday evening.
The 24-year-old clocked 1:57.08 to win the race ahead of Georgia Bell's 1:57.94 and Wiley Addison's 1:58.16.
The field was rather packed with Moraa, only one of the three athletes starting on one lane alone on the wet track of the Letzigrund Stadium.
The 24-year-old was fresh from breaking the world record in the unconventional women’s 600m at the ISTAF in Berlin, Germany. She shaved off a clean 0.14 seconds from Caster Semenya’s record that had stood since 2017.

Shafiqua Maloney dominated the first leg of the race but faded after taking the bell. Moraa led a conservative race, biding her time before bursting to the front on the home straight.
Dubbed Nyamira Express or the Dancing Queen, Moraa was third at the Olympic Games in Paris finishing behind Keely Hodgkinson of Great Britain and Tsige Duguma of Ethiopia.
Heading into the Weltklasse, Moraa had already assured her place in the final in Brussels next week. This was her fourth Diamond League meeting in the 800m.
She won in Doha and Laussane and took second place in Eugene, Oregon, putting her behind Jemma Reekie.
Moraa will be looking to make amends in the final next week after a disappointing fourth-place finish in the 2023 final. The final then held in Oregon, was won by former Olympic champion Athing Mu, with Hodgkinson and Natoya Goule-Toppin completing the podium places.
Afterwards, she will head to New York for the premier event of the Athlos NYC on September 26.
TUKO.co.ke had earlier reported how much Moraa earned for breaking the world record in Berlin.
Moraa shattered a record that had been in place since 2017. The prize money of the World Athletics Continental Tour Silver meeting is comparatively lower than that of other meetings.
