Who owns Supa Loaf?

Supa Loaf is one of the bread brands sold nationwide.

According to the company's website, the manufacturer was started in 1970 by Nurzakhanu Akberali Manji and her husband Akberali Habib Manji.

The family started the business by baking bread and other products at their home.

In the same year, they secured a licence to operate the first bakery in Mombasa.

As business boomed, the family expanded, building bakeries countrywide, with Mini Bakeries Limited being the group's flagship company.

Manji's sons joined her in the business, transforming the bakery into a conglomerate with over 50 branches.

Who owns Broadways?

In related news, Broadways has stood the test of time since it was started in 1958 as a small bakery in Thika town, Kiambu county.

The bakery was founded by two brothers, the late Sobhagchand Shah and Ratilal Shah, before Kenya attained its independence.

The company, which manufactures the Broadways and New Seneta brands, grew steadily from a one-deck oven bakery to one of Kenya's top bakeries.

Why manufacturers increased bread prices

Meanwhile, Kenyan bread manufacturers increased prices owing to the high costs of cooking oil, fuel, wheat and packaging.

Broadways managing director Bimal Shah attributed the increase to the rise in production costs.

Shah revealed the cost of packaging materials soared by 20%.
