There is growing tension within the Gen Z movement as two prominent figures, Mercy Tarus and Morara Kebaso, have become embroiled in a public feud.

Tarus has accused Morara of co-opting her ideas and using them to advance his own cause, sparking an online spat.

Why is Mercy Tarus angry with Morara Kebaso?

While Morara has been travelling across the country to spotlight stalled development projects, many of which were inaugurated by President William Ruto, Tarus has focused on civic education under her initiative, Kenya Ni Home.

Her project aims to educate Kenyan voters and foster a deeper understanding of civic responsibilities.

The rift between the two emerged when Morara seemingly began using the tagline Kenya Ni Home in his social media posts, leading Tarus to accuse him of intellectual theft.

What did Morara Kebaso tell Mercy Tarus in text?

In response, Tarus leaked private conversations in which Morara acknowledged the issue and informed her that he had deleted the posts containing the slogan that had sparked her anger.

In a fiery caption accompanying the leaked chats, Tarus challenged Morara to come up with his own ideas and refrain from borrowing hers.

"If you are man enough, why don't you come up with yours? You come to many people for help, and then you run posting. Njia ya mkora ni fupi. Kenya Ni Home and home must be respected," she wrote, escalating the public dispute.

Kenyans react to Morara Kebaso-Mercy Tarus feud

Kenyans on X were divided over the public spat between the two who have been vocally speaking against the current government.

Victor Kuloba:

"Asking for advise sio ukora mad'm. Infact, you don't know you are confirming him to be that ideal leader. Didn't want to be biased but your thinking is so limited. It's all about representing and execution. Morara gets greater ideas from Kenyans and they don't say it."

Mercy Mwende:

"Is "Kenya ni Home" copyrighted by you?"

Alex Manyura:

"Is it so necessary for you to post your conversations, making no sense."

Tech Ninja FX:

"You already solved the issue in your inboxes why screenshot &show us, you're petty."

The Government Critic:

"I stand with you Mercy."

Nelson Carter:

"What is this now? Why have we resorted to such, for a moment mimi I thought it’s a convo about u and someone doing an expo or corruption scandal kumbe n Morara."
