Meru Woman Stranded In Lebanon Finally Flies Back Home After Kind Stranger Pays For Her Ticket

The family of Judith Gatwiri from Meru county is over the moon as their daughter, who had been languishing in a Lebanese jail, is finally back home in Kenya.

Gatwiri thrown in jail

Judith travelled from Meru to Lebanon in search of a better life for herself and her family, but she suddenly became unreachable.

Initially, the 33-year-old constantly communicated with her family back home, but she went offline on March 6, 2024.

Her sister, Josephine, told TUKO.co.ke that a lady claiming to be Judith's friend alleged their kin was thrown in jail but was unsure if she would be detained for one or two years.

Agent pays Gatwiri's ticket

Josephine made spirited attempts to fight for her sister and kept Kenyans updated about her through TUKO.co.ke.

"The agent was asking for KSh 40,000, and we couldn't afford it. A Good Samaritan saw the story, and then it went quiet, and he wondered what was happening. He is called Kaibonga and is from Meru; he paid for the ticket and told me to go to the airport to get my sister," she said.

"She is fine, she is just very brown because of being in the cell. I want to thank TUKO.co.ke readers, Kaibonga, and Steven Kaloo," she added.

Kenyan returns from Saudi to sell uji

Elsewhere, two years after leaving for Saudi Arabia, Lucy Kioko returned to the country and now sells uji.

Uji power is reserved for people who have money around her neighbourhood and the Travel Operations graduate said that it goes for KSh 60.

Lucy also told TUKO.co.ke that she wants to make headway into the gospel music scene and has since recorded a song.
