State House spokesperson Hussein Mohamed was criticised online after celebrating Liverpool's 3-0 win against Manchester United on Sunday, September 1, at Old Trafford.

Mohamed, a known Liverpool supporter, took to X (formerly Twitter) to share his excitement with the simple tweet, "You'll Never Walk Alone."

Is Hussein Mahamed Liverpool fan?

However, the tweet quickly attracted the ire of disgruntled Manchester United fans, who used the opportunity to express their frustration not just with the football result but also with the current government, accusing it of corruption and mismanagement.

Here are a few of the comments he received:

@kilundeezy:

"Same way you’re walking with corrupt leaders."

@GratiaDonum:

"Hussein, you might walk alone in jail! Just make sure to keep away from embezzling funds acquired for public projects. So far, what Morara has exposed is despicable."

@MMI4ever:

"The match we are watching keenly is that of your boss plundering our resources."

@ogachiomareKE:

"They'll walk with lies."

Despite the harsh criticism, Hussein remained unphased and responded with good humour, acknowledging the backlash while still offering friendly banter to Manchester United fans.

He tweeted:

"Eh, Jameni! Hata football banter mnanilima tu? But bado nawapenda wote! Anyway, commiserations to my good Man United friends. The defeat was sobering. Mjipange next time! Good morning," he wrote.

Hussein Mohamed and Morara Kebaso clash on TV

On Wednesday, August 28, Kenyans were treated to a brief session of dramatic display pitting Mohamed against Morara Kebaso, a new but fast-rising antagonist of the state.

Kebaso had appeared on the JKL show to outline his new-found cause of putting the government to task over stalled projects across the country and misappropriation of public monies.

At one point, Morara claimed the president ever called him, offering him plum state posts.

The sentiment caught the attention of the State House spokesperson, who immediately called in to counter the assertion.
