However, on Wednesday, September 18, a video emerged online of him attending a past event hosted by the president.

A section of Kenyans criticised Morara after he was captured attending an event where Ruto was launching a government project in Kisii county.

What Morara Kebaso said about the viral video

In his defence, Morara admitted that he met Ruto on March 23, 2024, when the president visited his home area to launch a development project, but he was naive about the project being launched.

"For those asking whether I know William Ruto and if I have ever attended any events where he was present the answer is yes I know him. In fact the last time I saw him in person was on March 23, 2023. At that time I didn’t know that the project he had come to launch in my home area was a fraud. I was naïve like most of you at the time," Morara said.

He urged his supporters to continue supporting him, arguing that he remains accountable and honest for his actions.

"It’s also important for all those who believe in me to know that I am not a content creator and I am not an activist. I am a leader and I did not start today I started when I was a child. I have developed my skills over time. I have stood by my values. I will remain accountable and honest whenever such questions are raised," he added.

Is Morara Kebaso a government project?

Meanwhile, ODM leader Raila Odinga's staunch supporter, Nuru Okanga, lashed out at Morara, accusing him of being a state project.

Okanga suggested that the Kenya Kwanza administration might support Morara to distract Kenyans from the real issues affecting the country.

Okanga believes that Morara’s activism might be a calculated effort to shift attention away from the nation's pressing challenges.

Okanga also criticised Morara for frequently appealing to the public for financial support, particularly to buy and fuel his car.
