Ugenya Member of Parliament David Ochieng' has threatened to introduce a motion for the ouster of Acting Inspector General of Police Gilbert Masengeli if he does not resign by Tuesday, September 17.
Ochieng' contends that Masengeli is unfit to lead the National Police Service and protect the country following his recent conviction.

In an interview with Citizen TV on Tuesday, September 17, Ochieng' argued that Masengeli’s repeated disregard for court summons—six in total—demonstrates blatant disobedience of the rule of law and makes him unfit for office.
"If that gentleman does not resign by the end of the day today, I as David Ochieng' will take a censure motion to parliament for his removal from office. He must leave office. That should not even be debated," said Ochieng'.
"We cannot have Masengeli going back as IG its unquestionable. We are dealing with a decay in legal order and generally a free-for-all system that must be stopped immediately. If we don't do this, then tomorrow why would you expect someone who is found stealing or murdering to obey the law?" he posed.
The MP condemned the recent police actions that have gone unpunished and called for swift accountability for those found guilty of misconduct.
Ochieng' further suggested that there may be influential forces encouraging Masengeli to remain in his position.
Meanwhile, his comments follow the controversial decision by the acting IG to withdraw the security detail of Nairobi High Court Judge Lawrence Mugambi, who sentenced Masengeli to six months in prison.
This move was widely condemned, with Chief Justice Martha Koome leading calls for the immediate restoration of Mugambi's security and demanding that Masengeli comply with the court's orders.
In response, Masengeli stated that the withdrawal of Mugambi’s security was due to a VIP training requirement.
