The ministry reported that 42 samples have been submitted to their laboratories for testing, 40 of which tested negative for Mpox.

Additionally, the ministry noted that 426,438 travellers had been screened at various entry points in the country.

The Ministry of Health issued several guidelines that Kenyans can use to prevent themselves from contracting Mpox. They include:

  • Avoid close contact with individuals who have Mpox or show disease symptoms.

  • Practice good hygiene by regularly washing your hands or using sanitiser.
  • Be cautious about the meat you consume.

Govt says there are no cases of Mpox in Kenya

This announcement comes days after Barasa issued a statement confirming that there were no active Mpox cases in the country.

She announced that the first case of the disease, identified at the Taita Taveta One-Stop Border Point, had fully recovered.

She further clarified that Kenya had reported only one case of Mpox, involving an individual who travelled from Kampala, Uganda, to Mombasa, then to Rwanda via Tanzania through Taita Taveta.
