Nairobi – A hawker who admitted to stoning her lover's alleged side chick has urged a magistrate's court to pardon her as she had learnt her lesson.

The accused, Queen Elizabeth Odhiambo, was charged before a Milimani Law Court that on June 22, this year, at the junction of Harambee Avenue and Moi Avenue in Nairobi, she assaulted Janet Ndoti, who sells tea and other snacks in the Central Business District.

The court was told that 23-year-old Elizabeth, who also hawks tea and mandazi, approached the victim at around 3am as she was preparing to head home along Parliament Road.

An angry Elizabeth allegedly took four cabro pavement stones, which she used to hit Ndoti on her head after she accused him of having an affair with a man identified as Patrick Mbogo.

After the incident, witnesses said that Ndoti, who is the complainant, fainted.

The prosecution told the court that after hitting her, a security guard who was standing near the Consolidated Bank heard Elizabeth warning her victim from 'messing" with other people's husbands as she ran away.

"Utawacha kuchezea mabwana za watu (You will stop playing with other people’s husbands),” the accused is alleged to have told the complainant.

According to court documents seen by TUKO.co.ke, the man in question is a Wells Fargo security guard. He has, however, denied being in a relationship with the accused.

In her statement, Ndoti told police that the accused attacked her over her relationship with the said man.

When she was presented before the court, Elizabeth pleaded guilty to the assault charge. However, she asked the court for forgiveness, noting that she had learned her lesson.

"Sijakata nilifanya makosa laking naomba mahakama msamaha kwa sababu sina mwenye anaweza kunisaidia. (It is true that I committed the offense but I would like to urge this court to pardon me as I have no one to help me)," the remorseful woman told the court.

Senior Principal Magistrate Geoffrey Onsarigo will sentence her next week, September 24. She will be convicted on her own plea of guilt.
