Mburu, who stays with his parents at Green Court in Mihang’o, was on his way when he was attacked by two people on a boda boda.
A confrontation reportedly ensued between Mburu and the men on the boda boda before they made away with his valuables.
His stolen items included a cell phone, bank cards, and a wallet holding a certificate of appointment, in addition to his Ceska pistol that was loaded with 15 rounds of ammo.
Following the alleged mugging, Mburu proceeded to report his predicament at the nearest police station.
Police officers attached to Mihang’o and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Kayole team visited the scene, and the two joints that Mburu visited.
His parents' home at Green Court was also visited by the officers, where his wife confirmed that he left the house while armed in the morning.
Still intoxicated, Mburu was placed in custody to assist with the investigations. The officer was unable to locate the purported incident.
In addition, there were obvious bruises on his mouth, elbows, and right knee, along with ripped pants and a t-shirt.
Earlier, an officer attached to the Karatu Police Station in Gatundu South was detained by his colleagues as they traced a firearm that got lost while in his hands.
Identified as Constable Benson Otenda, the cop reported out of the station on the morning of Tuesday, May 21, after completing his shift the previous night.
While signing out, Otenda carried his firearm with him on his way home instead of returning it to the armoury.
