A local resident said it was not the first time the couple had fought, but this time they were unable to respond quickly enough to separate them.
"It wasn't a small fight. The two had reportedly threatened each other with knives, but we were able to stop them from hurting each other. We then left with the one that caused the dispute between the couple," he said.
Residents of the area have urged couples to resolve their disputes peacefully without resorting to violence.
"I would rather you leave your partner or send them away if the dispute between you two can't be resolved peacefully. We're saddened by the incident as neighbours," another resident said.
In another incident, a wave of grief and sorrow swept over a village in Mwingi West, Kitui county, following a man’s violent act against his partner.
Kyethani location chief Mwikali Musili confirmed the tragic incident in which a 24-year-old man fatally attacked his 40-year-old partner.
Musili stated that the man, identified as Mbuvi, confessed to killing Serah Mbuvi, his partner with whom he had been living.
The suspect fatally struck the woman with a piece of wood after accusing her of infidelity.
Musili explained that the suspect, who was not well-known in the area, had previously worked for the deceased before they began a romantic relationship.
