President William Ruto has been called out by people living with disability over what they term as failed promises.
Led by Northern Kenya Disability Chairman Hafid Maalim, a group of people with disability is accusing the president of negating his campaign promises to them.
They claim that the Kenya Kwanza regime has ignored their community in all government appointments and other opportunities available.

"We are not considered and acknowledged in our capacity as Kenyans, and our only problem is that we live with disability," Maalim told journalists in a press conference in Nairobi.
He said the government has failed to implement existing laws meant to help people living with disability, like the provision to ensure 30% of government procurement opportunities are given to women, youths and people living with disability.
"Disability is not a crime; we have an idea and are willing to contribute in any way to the prosperity of our country," Maalim added.
During his 2022 presidential campaign, Ruto promised to incorporate people living with disability in his Cabinet.
The fraternity was optimistic that they would be considered in the recent Cabinet reshuffle, but that, too, remained a pipedream.
Maalim said they could consider taking legal action to prompt the government to honour the Constitution's provision on just and fair representation.
In other news, the Association of Persons with Disability recently counselled the Kenyan youth to shun returning to the streets for protests and instead give a chance to the national dialogue touted by Ruto and opposition leader Raila Odinga.
The PWD representatives noted the adverse effects the protests had on their lives, calling for the cessation of the mass action demonstrations that they said had led to injuries, loss of lives and destruction of property.
In the face of the protests' successes, including the withdrawal of the Finance Bill 2024 and the dissolution of the Cabinet, the young citizenry was counselled to embrace peaceful mechanisms for addressing their concerns.
The PWDs urged compatriots to prioritise the wellness of the country and help safeguard the hard-won gains the nation had registered since independence.
According to the community, destructive actions and violence would not help but set the country back and impede progress.
While reaffirming its commitment to working collaboratively with the government, the group urged the president to consider appointing at least two persons with disability to the Cabinet.
