Opposition leader Raila Odinga has removed the iconic Azimio la Umoja cover photo featuring himself and Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua from all his social media platforms.

Why did Raila remove the iconic photo?

One possible reason for changing his cover photo is that Martha Karua and her party exited the Raila-led Azimio la Umoja coalition.

In a brief notice to Azimio La Umoja Secretary-General Junet Mohamed, the group cited "ongoing political developments" as the reason for its immediate withdrawal from Azimio membership.

The party and others helped establish the coalition leading up to the 2022 presidential election, where Karua was Raila's running mate.

Another possible reason is that Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party leader announced his plans to retire from Kenyan politics.

Raila announced that he would shift his focus at a press briefing on Wednesday, August 21.

He explained that he would dedicate his efforts to campaigning for the African Union Commission (AUC) chairperson position.
