Kajiado - Police have launched investigations after a Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) officer allegedly shot and killed a man at N'bar club in Ongata Rongai.

Citizen TV reported that the KWS ranger stormed the nightclub in the Tumaini area along Mugis Road in the wee hours of Saturday, August 17 and shot a man identified as Stanely Kuria dead.

How KWS officer shot Rongai man

A police report filed at Ongata Rongai Police Station indicates that the ranger, identified as Mohamed Daud, entered the club and ordered it closed.

Workers at the club said the ranger stormed the club and instructed everyone who was inside to lie down and cover their faces before shooting the deceased three times.

"He proceeded to shoot one person three times in the back and on the head and directed that everyone remain in that position till morning," the police report said.

What eyewitnesses in the Rongai incident said

Eyewitnesses said the suspect fled the scene on a motorbike and took a direction heading towards Nairobi.

The boda boda rider said the suspect threatened to cause more harm in the area if he refused to carry him to his destination.

The suspect stopped by a nearby shop where he was served muguka which he refused to pay for.

The ranger is said to have gone to his house, where he took away his life.

Preliminary investigations indicate the ranger had a confrontation with Stanely on Friday, August 16, at around 8pm before he left the club and later returned armed.

How police officer shot prison warden dead in Kitale

Elsewhere, a Kitale-based police officer went berserk and fatally shot a prison warden at a wines and spirits bar, causing panic among patrons.

The shooting occurred minutes before 4pm, on Wednesday, February 18, with witnesses reporting that the officer, armed with a pistol, opened fire on the prison warden during an argument.

Fleeing guests, including another prison warden, sought safety as the rogue officer, threatening harm, forced businesses in the area next to Kitale Law Courts to close.

The officer, found in a liquor store with a self-inflicted gunshot wound, was disarmed and transported to Kitale County Hospital.
