The Pharmacy and Poisons Board has issued an urgent voluntary recall of S-PRAZO (Esomeprazole Magnesium Delayed-Release Capsules 40mg) Batch No SPZ-302, manufactured by Laborate Pharmaceutical India Limited.
According to board's CEO Fred Siyoi, the recall was prompted by a market complaint reporting a mixup, where Donystatin tablet blisters were found in some secondary packets, specifically two different blister strips within one outer carton.
"The product is being recalled following a market complaint regarding a mix-up of blister strips; some boxes were found to contain two different blister strips, that is S-Prazo capsules and Donystatin tablets within the same outer carton," said Siyoi.

S-PRAZO, a proton pump inhibitor, is used to treat GERD, prevent NSAID-associated gastric ulcers, eradicate H. pylori, and manage conditions with excessive gastric acid secretion.
In contrast, Donystatin is an antifungal used for treating various infections caused by Candida species.
Healthcare professionals are advised to immediately quarantine all remaining stock of the affected batch and cease any further distribution, sale, or use.
They should await instructions from Harleys Limited, the distributor of S-Prazo, to arrange the return of the product.
Patients and the public in possession of this batch are also urged to return it promptly to the nearest healthcare facility.
"The board advises all pharmaceutical outlets, healthcare facilities, and professionals, and members of the public to stop further distribution, sale, issuing, or use of the product batch and return it to a healthcare facility or respective suppliers," added Siyoi.
In other news, the World Health Organisation has declared Mpox, previously known as monkeypox, a global health emergency because of its rapid spread.
The highly contagious disease has caused at least 450 deaths during an initial outbreak in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
WHO's director-general stated that a coordinated international response is crucial for stopping the outbreak and saving lives.
