Moses gave an account of the last moment before Joel went missing, leaving many concerned.

"On that day, we were divided into three groups, with each group having a teacher to guide them. Joel was in the first group. As we continued with the hiking adventure, Joel slowly drew back and joined the second group. Some had more stamina than others, so they walked faster and joined the groups ahead. The others who were getting tired fast joined the groups behind them," he told Ayo TV.

Tanzanian boy describes Joel's countenance

Moses came across Joel standing behind a massive tree and approached to find the reason.

The young man said he was taking a rest as he waited for another group and sought to make new friends.

"He looked worried and scared. Even as we talked, he would not look at me directly in my eyes. Something was wrong. It was like something was in his mind. Probably, he was planning on how to escape us. Maybe he had planned all the escaping plan all along," Moses added.

The Tanzanian boy urged his schoolmate to come out of hiding, as his disappearance had already become a concern.

Moses said the teachers had stopped teaching and focused on finding Joel because they could not concentrate on their work.

"I think he is hiding somewhere and is afraid of coming out because it is already a big deal. News about his disappearance has spread fast like wildfire. I have never seen such behaviour from him. He is a quiet and shy person," he added.

She never made it to class, and efforts to reach her were futile as her phones were off.
