Chepsiror said the body of the child had been retrieved and taken to a mortuary awaiting a postmortem.
The local administrator disclosed that the area had many children loitering because they had been neglected by their parents.
“I called the father to the child, and he told me he has been away from his home for the last six months and does not know where his wife and children are,” Chepsiror said, as reported by The Star.
While vowing to arrest parents who have neglected their children, the local administrator said many minors have been forced to loiter around looking for food.
“The children are forced to loiter around looking for food on their own because parents have neglected them,” he added.
Elsewhere, a family was thrown into mourning after the body of their female relative was recovered from River Narok following days of searching.
The 22-year-old was reportedly a student at Maasai Mara University.
The university student, who was reported missing on Monday, September 2, at 11am, was found floating in River Narok in what police have described as a drowning incident.
With assistance from the Kenya Red Cross, the 22-year-old's body was transported to the Narok County Referral Hospital morgue for a postmortem.
