Migori - Ngege village in Suna East Constituency came to a standstill on Wednesday, August 28, following President William Ruto's impromptu visit.

Auma’s joy could be clearly seen in her face as she served the president tea and bread at her family’s table, which they enjoyed together.

What did William Ruto promise Migori widow?

In a brief conversation, Ruto made a number of pledges to the widow that will also be of benefit to the village.

"For the warm and friendly welcome, I promise a free bill electricity to your homestead by next week," the president said.

For Auma, it was a blessing to host the president in her humble home.

She now hopes for a change for the better, especially with the pledge of getting connected to the national grid.

“For years we have been in the dark and I hope the president's pledge of bill free electricity will be fulfilled," she said.

Aside from ensuring Auma has electricity, free of charge, in a matter of days, President Ruto directed that locals in Ngege village get electricity within two months.

The village has been in the dark since independence, but if the president’s promise is anything to go by, that is about to change.

As an appreciation for honoring her for the visit, Auma gifted Ruto two goats.

The president was in Migori as part of his four-day development tour of Luo Nyanza region, where he will launch a number of projects.
