Alice Wambui is in deep grief after her son, Peter Macharia, went missing on June 25 during the anti-Finance Bill protests dubbed Occupy Parliament.

How did Wambui's son go missing?

Macharia's mother tearfully recounted how her son woke up that fateful day, dressed, and left the house despite her warnings about the protests scheduled for that day.

According to a TV47 report, Macharia was taken to Kenyatta National Hospital after being shot in the Nairobi Central Business District (CBD).

However, when Wambui arrived at the medical facility, she was informed that Macharia had already been treated and discharged that same day.

"I am in so much pain. Why did they discharge him at night? They said that they were not able to keep from leaving as there were so many injured people at the facility. They however said that he had minor injuries," she said.

Wambui tearfully questioned why the hospital would discharge her son late at night despite his gunshot wound.

The heartbroken mother said she had visited other hospitals and mortuaries in Nairobi searching for her son but to no avail.

"We've gone to Mbgathi Hospital and Kenyatta Hospital, just to mention a few. I then resorted to go the City mortuary, but I still couldn't find him. My God! I can't even eat."

She said her attempts to report the incident to various police stations in the capital have been unsuccessful. Wambui is now pleading with the government to assist her in locating her son.

Joseph Adero searches hospitals, morgue for son

In a separate incident, Joseph Adero, father of Charles Osewe Adero, a young and promising boxer in Kenya's capital, has been searching for his son, who also went missing during the protests..

Adero revealed that he had tried to discourage his son from participating in the protests, but his efforts were in vain as his son joined his friends in the demonstrations, which ultimately led to part of the National Assembly being set on fire.

Joseph explained that he had been searching for a while, hoping to find him in police stations, mortuaries, or Kenyatta National Hospital.

Despite being resigned to the possibility that he's dead, Joseph said he was clinging to the faintest hope of finding him.

He called on the authorities to share with them if their children were dead so they could move on, questioning the government's commitment to find them.
