Luis de la Fuente was a Mexican professional soccer player who had a net worth of $5 million. Luis de la Fuente was born in Veracruz, Mexico in January 1914 and passed away in May 1972. He was a midfielder who started his senior career with Aurrera in 1930. Luis also played for Real Espana on three occasions, Racing Santander, Club America, Corrales, Velez Sarsfield, Marte, and Veracruz.. De la Fuente also represented Mexico in international competition from 1934 to 1950 where he scored 7 goals in 9 appearances. Luis was signed during exhibition games in Mexico by Atletico Corrales.

He won two Primera Division de Mexico championships with CD Veracruz in 1945 and 1949. He became the first Mexican player to play in four different countries which were Mexico, Spain, Argentina, and Paraguay. De la Fuente retired in 1952 after an accomplished 21 year career. Luis de la Fuente passed away on May 28, 1972 from a heart attack at 58 years old. He was buried facing the Luis "Pirata" Fuente Stadium which was named for him.
