Kennedy Macharia, a man with albinism, talked of his unique challenges as he walked in the busy town of Embu.

The web designer noted many residents were not educated about albinism and confused him for many things.

Speaking to TUKO.co.ke, the 23-year-old said some confused him for a Mzungu who was full of money.

Are people living with albinism wealthy?

"Some approach me and ask me to lend them money because they see me as a walking wallet. They look at my skin colour and think I am a wealthy Mzungu, not understanding that I am an albino," he shared.

The jovial web developer noted some older women approached him with strange offers that he gave a deaf ear.

Macharia said some women ask him to sire with them kids that look like him so that they can get favours.

Do people with albinism have access to the government?

"They think albinos have access to the government and that the government also freely educates them. They also think it is easier for people with albinism to get jobs, among other favours. However, some want to see your reaction. Some men have even asked me to have kids with their women, which I find very strange," he hilariously said.

Macharia from Embu said he ignored such conversations because he was uninterested and would not want to interfere with people's lives.

He shared that siring a child with someone with albinism would not guarantee having a child with albinism.

Family with most siblings with albinism

Crossing borders, a United Kingdom family bagged Guinness World Record (GWR) for most siblings with albinism.

The British family from Coventry set a Guinness World Record for having the most siblings with albinism, emphasising their unique bond and raising awareness about the condition.

The siblings, all affected by albinism, credit their shared experiences for fostering a strong connection and working diligently to promote understanding and acceptance.

Naseem Akhtar, Ghulam Ali, Haider Ali, Muqadas Bibi, Musarat Begum, and the youngest, Mohammed Rafi, were the Coventry siblings affected by the genetic condition.

The siblings, who inherited the condition from their Pakistani-born parents, expressed their pride in achieving the Guinness World Records title.
