Kenyans have given low ratings to President William Ruto and his deputy, Rigathi Gachagua, for their performance in 2023.

According to a survey by Infortrak Research Consulting, Ruto scored D, which is equivalent to a rating of 47%.

How William Ruto scored per region

The survey report released on Friday, December 29, showed Gachgaua had a rating of 36%, which is equivalent to grade E.

Ruto scored 50% in Rift Valley, Western 49%, Nairobi and Central 48%, Eastern 46%, Coast 44%, North Eastern 43%, and Nyanza 41%.

For Gachagua, the highest score was in Rift Valley where he got 40% while in central 39%, western and eastern 37% each, coast 35%, Nairobi and north eastern 34%.

"The results, however, are not encouraging. Across the board the sentiments lean towards disapproval," reads the report.

The survey was conducted on 1,500 respondents between December 18 and December 19, 2023, and interviews were conducted through computer-assisted telephone interviews across all 47 counties.

According to Infotrak Research, the survey had a +/- 2.53% margin of error.

How Ruto was rated on job creation

Meanwhile, a recent survey conducted by Trends and Insights For Africa (TIFA) shed light on the public's perception of the Ruto/Kenya Kwanza government's performance during its first year in power.

The survey employed a 3-point scale, ranging from "1" (Very Bad) to "3" (Very Good), providing a nuanced assessment of various policy areas and the government was ranked poorly in creating jobs with a score of 1.6 and in policies to reduce the cost of living with a score of 1.4.

The government also scored poorly in public debt management (1.8) and reduction of corruption (1.6).
