Man Visiting In-Laws For Introduction Ceremony Arrested After Arriving Empty-Handed

What was meant to be a beautiful introduction ceremony turned into chaos and drama after the man visiting his in-laws arrived at their home empty-handed.

Samuel Maikut, who wanted to ask for his lover's hand in marriage, arrived without the goodies that the bride's family was expecting as the would-be son-in-law.

A report by the Daily Monitor indicated that while the bride's family prepared for a feast for the ceremony, and it had been agreed that the groom would bring along four cows and three goats.

According to the aggrieved in-laws, not only did the groom arrive empty-handed, but he was also unfashionably late to the ceremony as he arrived 20 minutes after 5pm.

"We allowed the guests to eat as we ended up over-waiting for them. At 5pm, two ladies arrived and informed us that the groom would arrive momentarily," he said.

Upon arrival, a drama ensued as the bride's family interrogated the groom, questioning why he had arrived without the agreed goodies.

The family said tensions rose as the community interrogated the man, and the police were called to arrest him.

Groom apologises

The groom has since apologised for the turn of events at the botched introduction ceremony and has also promised to compensate the bride's family for the losses they underwent.

The losses are from organising the event to preparing the feast. He blamed unnamed individuals for letting him down, albeit without explaining how they did.

“I am sorry for what happened, but I am ready to discuss issues of compensation for the losses involved in the function,” he said.

The community chairman maintained the 60-something-year-old groom had not paid anything as brideprice as expected.
